How do we find a company to complete a building inspection following turnover? PDF Print E-mail

Q. Our building was recently turned over and we are considering pursuing litigation as a result of many unresolved issues. It was recommended that we hire someone to complete a full building inspection to note any code violations, life safety issues, etc.

Is this common and how do we go about finding a company to do this work?

A. Many newly turned-over associations have what is known as a "transition study" completed in order to review the physical well-being of the association.  Their findings will be valuable if you end up in litigation with the developer. You can find recommended vendors for this service on this website: Specialty Services-->Inspections/Reserve Studies.

Your association may also want to have the financial well-being of the association reviewed, as any information regarding unpaid assessments should also be included in the litigation.  Haus Financial Services, LLC provides a New Association Success Package that includes a review of the association's finances following turnover, and identifies any funds owed to the association by the developer.  We work with your counsel through litigation to support the financial claims. Our services have helped many clients to recover funds owed and further, to determine the best course of action when considering litigation.
